Thanksgiving is a time when we reflect and give thanks. Typically it’s being thankful for family, friends and us spiritual types are also thankful for God and all he has given us.
Speaking of which…let us not forget some other things we may take for granted around holiday time. Like:
The Remote Control
Those of us at a certain age remember a television that
did not have a remote control. You actually had to pick yourself up out of the chair, walk over to the television and change the channel. Gasp! Oh, and don’t let the numbers on the dial fool you. Where we lived, there were only eight channels to choose from. Double gasp!
Come on now! I’m not the only one who enjoys popping these things. Did you know there’s even a Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day? Yep, January 25th. Don’t believe me? Check out this website, http://www.fast-pack.com/bubblewrapappreciation.html
I live in Southern California so I don’t know anything about this mythical white stuff called ‘snow.’ But I am thankful for temperatures that are less than 85 degrees!
As a family, we love driving around and looking at how people decorate their homes. The photo above is our humble little display we have every year. It started when our daughter was in preschool. First the angel, then Santa, and finally, the little penguin. Another annual tradition is me notifying my husband to take them down when Christmas is over…two weeks over!
These are just a few of my favorite things that bring joy into my life. Please feel free to share some of your favorite things in the comment section below. And have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
